Reconciling a positive ecological balance with human development: A quantitative assessment

چکیده
Clear indicators and evaluation criteria are essential to keep humanity’s environmental impact within planetary boundaries. We introduce a new criterion based on two constraints, accounting for both ecological human sustainability. The constraint is defined through novel indicator, the eco-balance, grounded well known concept of footprint population biodensity. sustainability estimated level biocapacity consumption needed achieve an acceptable development. application our world countries shows where technological improvements changes in patterns sufficient reach sustainability, actions and/or restoring capital also needed. This highlights synergic going beyond simplistic schemes, such as overconsumption vs. overpopulation or developed developing countries.

Background: It is necessary to get information on nutrition situation in children and epidemiology of the malnutrition to use for planning and health policy making, therefore this study aimed to identify the role of human development on nutrition situation in children under-five years of old worldwide. Methods: This ecological study was performed on the relation of the nutrition situation of chi...
متن کاملThe Correlation of Human Development Index on Fertility and Mortality Rate: a Global Ecological Study
BackgroundSeveral studies have examined the relationship between Human Development Index (HDI) and various health outcomes. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between HDI, and infant mortality rate, mortality rate of children under one year and under 5 years, maternal mortality rate, and total fertility rate.Materials and MethodsIn this ecologic study, data on HDI, total ...
متن کاملDevelopment of a Sensitive Quantitative Competitive PCR Assay for Detection of Human Cytomegalovirus DNA
Accurate and rapid diagnosis of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) disease in immunocompromised patients has remained as a challenge. Quantitative competitive PCR (QC-PCR) methods for detection of HCMV in these individuals have improved the positive and negative predictive values of PCR for diagnosis of HCMV disease. In this study we used QC-PCR assay, using a co-amplified DNA standard, to quantitate...

متن کاملHuman and Ecological Risk Assessment
Yellow perch (YP) are metal tolerant fish that form large populations in many metal-impacted regions across Canada. While they are able to survive and reproduce successfully in environments with water and sediment metal concentrations that are toxic to many invertebrates, perch experience a suite of direct and indirect impacts. YP were studied in a series of Canadian Precambrian Shield lakes ne...
